What inspired your career journey?
Studying art history abroad instilled a deep admiration for the masters. But growing up, our home was like an art gallery. My dad was a collector of contemporary and modern art, and he often rotated the art around. It was inspiring, and it gave me an appreciation for so many genres and mediums.
What do you find most satisfying about your work?
It is a dynamic career because I work with a myriad of people across the country—artists, gallerists, designers—and work with a diverse group of clients. Building these ongoing relationships is stimulating. It truly is never a dull moment as an art advisor.
Why Would someone work with an art consultant?
An art consultant offers an experienced eye to guide clients when acquiring original art and sculptures in building a collection or enhancing an existing collection. The art world can be overwhelming and intimidating. Being in it every day, it is natural and intuitive. My goal is to see the works of art through the eyes of my clients. Art is very personal and subjective. It takes a keen understanding and insight into my clients to guide them through the process. Ultimately, it is most important how the pieces make the clients feel. It is consequential to follow the clients’ lead when discerning the artwork that moves them. Then it is my place to enlighten them about all of the other fundamental details.
What motivates you in your life?
My family. Legacy is vital to me. Following my passion and being successful at it is essential for my children to witness and hopefully model.
What makes Peninsula life most meaningful to you?
I moved to the Peninsula in my early twenties from southern California. It has changed significantly in the past two decades. But it has always been a highly charged environment with brilliant, innovative, and passionate people. It is a very philanthropic area. Even though the Peninsula is full of ambitious people, there is pervasive compassion for others.
